EIGHT STEPS OF PURE GOLD
(Dedicated to Ms Priyageetha Dia, who in a spontaneous act of benevolent artistic expression, spent 5 hours laying gold foil over 8 steps of the 20th floor staircase of Block 103, Jalan Rajah where Ms Dia lives.)

How could you be so bold,
To ever let passion take hold?
Breaching every threshold
In iron rules now tired and old.

Didn't you hear them scold,
That your art left them cold?
There's no return to the fold,
If your soul cannot be sold.

As now you're on the scaffold,
How should the truth be told?
That it was glorious to behold,
Your eight steps of pure gold!
